LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing alumni, faculty, students and staff put on their boogie shoes for the 4th Annual Mudbug March to Stomp Out Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). Held at the Peristyle at City Park, the event was a great time for a great cause.
The Disco Amigos got everyone’s blood pumping before the 1-mile walk. Whether the purpose was to warm up or just an excuse to dance, dance, dance depends on who you ask.

Festivities also included yummy food, libations and a silent auction with restaurant gift certificates, beauty baskets, and staycations at the Ritz and NOPSI hotels up for bid.

“The goal for our event, held in memory of Chelsea Umbach Yates, is to raise awareness of PH and to educate patients on the importance of taking care of themselves,” said Todd Tartavoulle, Todd, DNS, APRN, CNS-BC, Program Director for Traditional BSN Program. “For instance, did you know that sleep apnea can cause PH?”

A portion of the $14,000 raised will be donated to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, which funds research on the illness that currently has no cure.
